About PAMACC

The Pan African Media Alliance for Climate Change (PAMACC) is an association of African Journalists who report on climate change, environment, sustainable development and related subjects. The network was formed on the 5th of June 2013 in Nairobi, Kenya by environmental journalists, who were then finalists of the first African Climate Change and Environmental Reporting (ACCER) Awards. The award was an initiative of the Pan African Climate Justice Alliance (PACJA) in collaboration with United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

The Alliance membership has since grown from 20 to more than 120, located in different parts of the continent. PAMACC has coordination offices in four regions, namely the East African Region, The Central African Region, The West African Region and The Southern African Region.

The Alliance runs a news website in two languages – English and French. So far, PAMACC satisfactorily executed media coverage of the African Pavilion at the 21st session of the UNFCCC (COP 21) in Paris to the satisfaction of the Africa Development Bank (AfDB).

In 2014, PAMACC published the CCDA Live magazine, featuring different sessions at the 2014 CCDA conference in Marakkech, Morocco, on behalf of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA). The organization also provided coverage for CCDA – VI in Addis Ababa to the satisfaction of UNECA.
